Not every practice needs to be intense to be transformative. At Sukha Yoga, our Yin and Restorative classes are among the most popular yoga classes on our schedule. Urban life speeds us up, these mindful practices encourage us to slow down and offer our body and nervous system restoration.
Yin and Restorative yoga are available at all three Sukha locations across Austin -South Austin, Tarrytown, and East Austin.
Yin Yoga as Deep Release Through Stillness
Yin yoga targets the deeper connective tissues of the body incuding fascia, ligaments, and joints through long-held floor poses that are typically sustained for three to five minutes each. Where active yoga styles build heat through movement, Yin works through patience and gravity.
Staying present through stillness, breathing with sensation, and allowing the body to fully release takes practice. Regularly practicing Yin yoga many students have reported less stress, relief from chronic tension, improved sleep, and a more easeful attitude toward the challenges of life.
At Sukha, Yin classes are taught with an emphasis on breath awareness and meditative focus, and seasonal care. For non heated Yin look for the Nervous System Reset Yin and Breathwork classes on the schedule and for our gently heated infrared Yin look for the Sauna & Stretch classes.
Flow + Restore at Sukha Yoga Austin When You Want Both
Can't decide between movement and stillness? Sukha's Glow Flow and Restore classes were made for you. A beautifully balanced practice combining two styles of Yoga. The first half of class flow through a warming uplifting vinyasa experience then settle low to the earth for the second half and release tension deep in the body with a restorative and prop supported yin. Yin yoga invites us to slow down, turn inward to alleviate stress and restore your energy levels.
